Tower Garden

Rethink Food have given us the opportunity to grow our own vegetables indoors. Using a NASA designed 'Tower Garden' we were able to grow lettuce, chard, basil, chamomile and rocket in a 60 day period. We harvested the vegetables and served it at dinnertime to the children.

Greek Day

We had a special visit from Robbie who did an Ancient Greek day with us. We watched and performed plays about myths and wrote our own myths. We also made plates in the style of ancient greek art.

One of the volunteers also shared a story and played games with the class too. They even gave us all some free books to take away

World Book Day

The children throughout school celebrated World book day, this year we all read the text The Red Prince and took part in many activities linked to this. First the day started as each person came to school dress as characters from the text, following this we had discussed our favourite books and dropped everything to read at 11 AM, this included all adults too. Each class also helped through creating artwork around the book, English and maths work to decorate their classroom door for a competition. The winning classes were awarded prizes in assembly.

Science Week

Year 3 had lots of fun looking at how sound travels during science week. They made their own telephones using cups and string. They experimented using different size string and different materials of cups to see which was the best combination.

Year 5 had lots of fun on Science Day. They were investigating how to make the most efficient catapult and ways they could change it to make it better.

Year 4 have been investigating how electricity works in a circuit.

Year 6 have been studying Africa as part of their topic.  They have been classifying animals in science and have been reading Jungle Book as part of English.  6S had a fantastic time exploring some of the animals they have been learning about at The Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
